North Church is a member of the United Church of Christ, a denomination of congregational heritage which understands that the sole head of the church is Jesus Christ. Authority for the church's actions rest in its covenant membership.

We are related to other UCC churches in the Rockingham Association, the New Hampshire Conference, United Church of Christ, and the national setting of the denomination through various places of representation, particularly General Synod.

Directions to the Parish House (355 Spinney Road):

 

From the North get on US 95 South, take Exit 3B, “Greenland/Stratham, Rt. 33”.

 

From the South on Rt. 95, take Exit 3, just after the toll.

 

Then:

Take a right off the ramp at the traffic light towards Portsmouth. 

Stay on Rt. 33, which is also Middle Road.  Do not go left at the “Downtown” sign. 

There will be a cemetery on your right, then a traffic light. Go straight.  You will go over the Rt.1 Bypass and see the Parish House on your left at the corner of Middle and Spinney Roads.  The parking lot is the left before Spinney Road. 

To reach the Fellowship Hall without climbing stairs, please park in the smaller lot in front of the building on Spinney Road.

 

To Parish House from downtown Portsmouth:

 

Beginning in front of the Market Square Sanctuary, you are on a one-way street (Congress) headed south out of town. 

Stay in the middle lane and at the second traffic light go straight (at this light the health food store is to your right, Jumpin’ Jay’s Fish Café to your left, Portsmouth Library across to your left and a parking lot across to your right).

Street name is now Islington.  Stay on Islington. 

You will come to another traffic light (CVS on left). Go straight.

You will pass a shopping plaza, then a Fleet Bank, on your left.

Spinney Road forks to the left soon after the bank and before the Rt.1 overpass.  (There is a dentist’s office in the fork and you can see Hovey’s Photo up to the right on Islington.)

Follow Spinney Road to around until you come to the Parish House last on the right.  Parking in front for easy office access.

 

Directions to Market Square Sanctuary (center of city, also 2 Congress St):

Follow directions to Parish House, but follow the “Downtown” sign.  You will eventually reach a traffic light at which you must turn left or right.  Turn right, then travel around to your left at the succeeding lights to search for on street parking.  OR, turn left, then right at next light to take you to Hanover Street and the parking garage.
