North Church Partners with Marondera Church
North Church of Portsmouth proudly stands with 46 other churches in the New Hampshire Conference United Church of Christ (NHCUCC) partnered with United Church of Christ Zimbabwe (UCCZ) churches. Ukama Partnerships vary in many ways but the core connections are based on being family with one another while offering prayers, messages, and the written word between all members. This walk in faith with Marondera Church of Zimbabwe has opened our hearts and arms to embrace another culture and very special relationships.
From the beginning in 2010, North Church members have had the opportunity to travel to Marondera and to host visitors from Marondera and other UCCZ members. UCCZ ministers have worshiped with North Church while celebrating Ukama Sunday in October. Each Sunday we lift up our hama (family) in a prayerful manner during worship. Another method of connecting has been through pictures taken and shared with one another. Through these pictures, we have been able to witness the progress made by the folks in Marondera, going from a stick building to one of bricks (although not yet completed).
Whether we worship in New Hampshire or in Zimbabwe, what Ukama means to us is that we hold each other in prayer and walk in faith with one another.
We worship both in the sanctuary at Market Square as well as the chapel at our Parish House. Please check the calendar to confirm the location for the worship date you are looking for.
