Church Life Update: New Music Director!
It is with joy and hope that we share that the Music Director Search Committee has voted to hire Adelyn Nelson as our next Director of Music Ministries here at North Church. Throughout our time interviewing her we were impressed and moved by her thoughtful, professional, and enthusiastic presence, her vision for our church, her connection to the greater Seacoast music community, and her curiosity about all that North Church could do together and with the broader community.
Adelyn is a versatile pianist, music director, and educator based in Newmarket, New Hampshire, who values music as a powerful tool for connection and expression. With degrees in Piano Performance and Psychology from the University of New Hampshire, she brings a strong foundation in classical, sacred, and contemporary traditions.
She has led music ministries at several churches throughout New Hampshire and is a collaborative pianist and teacher at Phillips Exeter Academy and the University of New Hampshire. Adelyn is also an active leader in the regional music scene, organizing events for piano teachers and students through the Music Teachers National Association, and performing with groups like Portsmouth Pro Musica and the Queer Choir of Portsmouth. She is thrilled for the opportunity to join the North Church community and to help nurture a vibrant, inclusive music ministry that inspires connection and spiritual growth.
Many, many thanks to the Music Director Search Committee: Bev James, Nancy Lehoux, Gail Darrow, and Caroline McMullen for their faithful, thoughtful, and hope-centered work in these last six months.
